Making the Most of Your Life in Christ

Is life happening to you, or are you making your life count for Christ?

Christians, like all other people have limited control over their lives. We are all subject to varying pressures and obligations that check and change us. Only God is able to control all things and only He has the ability to take full charge of our lives.

We are all in danger of drifting endlessly through our years letting life happen to us, but the Bible teaches that God has a plan and purpose for us all (Ephesians 2:8-10). We can either let life happen to us, or we can trust in God, and let His purpose for our lives come to pass, in His perfect timing.

Where will you be in one, five, or ten years from now? Will you let life take you where it will, or will you let Christ Jesus be your Lord and Master, and the Holy Spirit your Guide? Jesus may be your Saviour, but is He your Lord?

We are warned not to drift through life into sin. ‘And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil its lusts’ (Romans 13:11-14).

Sin will make life happen to us and if we are its slaves (John 8:34), we will be controlled by it and in the future, we will have to pick up the pieces of our defaced lives one by one. But the Lord wants to guide us and teach us in the way we should go and by following Him, we won’t be victims of life, but victors through Christ.

Why not dwell on these words from the Lord?

‘I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eyes. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you’ (Psalm 32:8-9).
