The Awful Reality of the Person of the Holy Spirit

Have you ever been in a big Christian meeting and imagined the speaker had a word from God for you! In front of everyone, he or she picks you out and tells you about God’s great plan for your life!

That happens to some, but it never happened to me and it will probably not happen to you either. However, there is something greater than being noticed by a human agent and that is being noticed by God Himself!

It is the awful reality of the person of the Holy Spirit. For one special moment in time, you feel that there is ‘an immediate call’ upon your life and He has come to ask you to surrender everything to Him (1 Kings 19:11–13). He has come to ‘own’ the person who often said that ‘Jesus is Lord.’

In that intense situation, time has no meaning, because He has come to deal with you alone. The world is lost in this moment of heavenly tragedy. It’s heavenly because He has come, yet it’s a tragedy for the flesh because that must be crucified (Luke 9:23).

You receive a challenge that could change your whole life. In the quiet of your own heart, you can either accept and surrender, or resist and run!

Have you every experienced the awful reality of the Person of the Holy Spirit? Has He ever cornered you? Have you felt His deep call in your spirit?

Making the decision to surrender to the Lord is never easy (Romans 12:1-2). Nevertheless those who have gone before us say it is always worth it. Derek Prince (the world renown Bible teacher), after a lifetime of serving God and living by faith said, “God is faithful.” He was not reading from a text book, he was speaking from a lifetime of personal experience.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart" (Jeremiah 1:5).
