Knowing Purpose

It is amazing waking up, with the certainty that we have a purpose in this life in Christ Jesus! ‘For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them’ (Ephesians 2:10).

The tragedy of modern Christianity is that many believers do not know they have a purpose in Him. Some have been tricked into believing that as long as they go to church, give money, pray and read the Bible, then that’s it.

All of those things are important, but they are only a part of being a Christian. Jesus wants disciples and a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ spends his or her life fulfilling God's purpose and destiny (Matthew 28:19–20). Christ told us what making disciples means… ‘Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded’ (Matthew 28:20).

I believe Christians will find their greatest fulfilment in the will and purpose of God for their lives. When we wake up in the morning, knowing with certainty that we are in the centre of God’s perfect will for our lives, it brings great joy! ‘For the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit’ (Romans 14:17).

There will always be challenges, wilderness experiences, valleys and mountain tops, but when we get into the very centre of His will, there will also be purpose and purpose is powerful.

‘He saith unto them, follow Me...’ (Matthew 4:19).
