Christian Rock Music, 'Revival' by Stuart Menzies Farrant

"If all Christian tunes rocked like this, I'd be really hooked on this genre"

-Shaky Tee
‘Revival’ – modern Christian rock and smooth grooves all in one album! Welcome to the world of Stuart Menzies Farrant.

Starting in heavy metal, today Stuart prays that everyone who hears his songs will get a touch of the Holy Spirit and a Rhema word to supernaturally change their lives.

An impressive heart for missions and the needy has led him to dedicate a song to the ‘street kids’ of Sao Paulo and to the heights of performing in front of various VIP’s including the Minister of State in Uganda.

If you love Christian rock, the songs ‘Revival’ and ‘No Doubt’ will be heard from your CD player for several weeks. Whilst ‘King of Kings’ will cause you stop everything and lift your hands in worship.

Words from Stewart

"I am a Christian singer/songwriter, based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, in the UK, where I have my home recording studio. I've been making music for quite a few years now, I started out playing guitar with heavy metal bands, but things started to take a different route when I began writing and recording my own material. It was around this time when my Christian faith became the driving force behind my creativity. Now I really had something to say!
"I started out playing guitar with heavy metal bands"

Most of my performances have been in the local area, though, I did sing in a musical production called 'Father', which was staged at the Broadway Theatre, Essex, in 2000. Father; 'depicting painful memories of childhood relationships and dramatically exposing God the Father's heart cry for the Fatherless.' I've also done shows with The Yorkshire Arts Council and New Note Poetics, (a local arts group) and in 1997; I had the opportunity to work with a local charity to help raise awareness, and funds, for AIDS orphans in two trips to Uganda. I was lucky enough to perform some of my songs at various 'street venues', and in the National Conference Centre in Kampala.

" I also have a calling to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ" As well as singing and song writing I also have a calling to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the last 5 years or so I've felt an increasing desire to not only sing songs but also to share what I've come to know is the truth about ourselves and God. Since the day about ten years ago when I discovered the difference between religion and relationship, I began to feel the call of God on my life leading me into a deeper relationship with him."

The story of the CD

I started out with a love of music, I can sing and I can get alone with God there....this is just a symptom of the fact that I'm living & breathing.....the basic DNA of Stuart Menzies Farrant.

Of course it was God's own plan to bring me back again to a place of emptiness, where He could speak and I would listen!! .......Sat there strumming away, writing words that I wasn't sure that I believed any more. As I sang and scribbled and messed and recorded 5 songs...I was happy with what I'd done musically. I still couldn't muster much zeal for the words I'd written. I began to get offers and interest from record people etc...all very encouraging..., although I'm still uncertain about lots of stuff etc......then I sit facing months of unemployment, lack of funds etc.....and I force myself to follow through on the album and deliver as promised! ....It took me a while to get started on the second 5 songs as I didn't know if I could come up with songs as good as the first 5!!...But I do believe in my heart that the 2nd 5 are better than the first 5! .Isn't that amazing! "Of course it was God's own plan to bring me back again to a place of emptiness, where He could speak and I would listen!"

"Then I sit facing months of unemployment, lack of funds etc"

"He knew me....everything about me...and He accepted me" Over the course of the 18 months of composing /recording etc, God has brought me from nowhere to somewhere by showing me that He is with ME, He didn't care what anyone thought or said! He knew me....everything about me...and He accepted me...more importantly He knew me and spoke to me as a 'finished product'.

God sees in us all the multitudes and miracles!! I'm getting blessed of God through my own songs, the songs have taken on deeper and deeper meaning the more I've listened to them....I love what God has done in my life!!

I pray that everyone who hears these songs will get a touch of the Holy Spirit and a Rhema word to supernaturally change their lives. That's what it's all about for me, I've been in the desert of doubt, I've suffered many pains and problems, I've tried to hide from God and let him use others instead. After the worst days of my life, the hand of God has reached down deep into my spirit and lifted me and lifted me and lifted me and lifted me and lifted me until what I thought was the top is now beneath my feet! ....Hallelujah! "I pray that everyone who hears these songs will get a touch of the Holy Spirit and a Rhema word to supernaturally change their lives"

Dave Davies - Making Music Magazine

"As something of a sceptic when it comes to religious matters, I will admit to some slight alarm when confronted by Stuart Menzies Farrant's opening gambit that, as a singer/songwriter, he works 'mainly in the Christian field'. Casting aside my prejudice, I discovered a really delightful demo of sincere songs, rendered in appropriately intimate arrangements. "The River" and "More Than A Prayer" are pick of the bunch, and if the lyrical sentiment of "Revival" is a little too overt for my tastes, then at least it's clear Stuart really means it. There's a distinctive talent at work here and the result is streets ahead of most other - frankly toe-curling - 'Christian rock'."

Ali - Bulaka Music Magazine

"Typically, when someone says that they write music "out of a desire to do the will of God" you will find that people either find a sudden fascination with the floor or that they disappear rather sharpish. This probably has something to do with the images of 70's hippies, sitting around singing "cum by yah" or whatever. Thankfully, Stuart Menzies Farrant's songs are something much more sophisticated.

Stuart manages to engage the listener first, and make them think about the meaning behind the songs second, rather than preaching to the listener as some do. Based in Bradford, west Yorkshire, Stuart records all his work in his own home studio. He’s currently planning to record an album which will initially be made available over the internet, but should those demons/angels of music A&R come along; he's not saying that he wouldn't like to sign a publishing deal with them. You can find several of Stuart's excellent tracks online."

"If all Christian tunes rocked like this, I'd be really hooked on this genre. VERY WELL WRITTEN AND PERFORMED jangly guitar pop!!! And you call this a demo? NO WAY!! VERY professional, I'd say almost radio ready. My only quibble, during the chorus, you need to bring the lead vocal up just a tad and push the backing vocals back a little, in order to achieve that balance. Glad I downloaded this. WAY TA GO!!!" - Shaky Tee (Artist Launch.com)

"Alright, now we've covered "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" and "R-E-V-I-V-A-L"...let's move on to the "S" words...like, "S-E-R-I-O-U-S" heh heh...seriously, this is a decent catchy tune and I quite liked it. Stuart clearly has some experience in production as well as a player. Good "V-O-X", different enough to standout, but not so different that it'd "B-U-G" ya. I think...this "S-O-N-G" is "O-K-A-Y", ok? Or do I have to "S-P-E-L-L" it out for ya some "M-O-R-E"? :)" - DD Ess (Artist Launch.com)
