6. THE BIBLE: It’s The GREATEST Book Ever!

Question and answer: “What’s so special about the Bible?”

The Bible is made up of 66 books divided into two parts: the Old and New Testaments. The O/T tells us about creation, and the history of Israel. The N/T records the life of Jesus, the Apostles and their teaching.

Fact: The Bible is the world’s best selling book and portions of it have been translated into over 2000 languages. It is God’s word to mankind. The Bible gives us principles and guidelines for every issue of life.

2 Timothy 3:16 ‘All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness’

Wisdom: If you want to learn more about God’s inspired word, then you need to read it regularly. It is informative, reliable and eternal.

The Bible contains history, poetry, wisdom, genealogies, songs, life stories, romance, etc. It teaches on subjects like growing up, sex, relationships, dealing with enemies, how to live a faithful life, etc. The Bible also tells us about events to come; this is called prophecy.

Think: How do I spend my time every day? Am I productive?

Hebrews 4:12 ‘For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart’

Jesus taught us that true disciples continue in God’s word. That means we must read and apply His word to our lives John 8:31-32, James 1:22. As you read the Bible, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. Many have made bad mistakes by not knowing and applying God’s word. As you read the Bible, there will be portions that you do not understand, but over the months and years, the Holy Spirit will help you understand more and more as you are faithful to read a portion of the Bible every day.

Fact: By reading five chapters a day you will read the Bible in less than one year.
