In the year 1975, the Rubik’s cube was invented. Digital watches became popular. The film ‘Jaws’ was released and the
comedy series ‘Faulty Towers’ came on the British screen. In London snow fell in June! Britain got it's first North
Sea oil.
In Britain a gallon of petrol was 76 pence (today you cannot even buy a litre for that!). A colour TV
licence cost £18 and a black and white licence a mere £8. A second-class stamp cost 3 ½ pennies and a first-class stamp
4 ½ pennies.
