In traditional Western culture, we have pictured life in heaven as spending our time sat on clouds playing harps. That picture has been
drawn from a few Scriptures in the Bible that mention harps and clouds, but it is a very unrealistic view of heaven.
The Bible describes heaven as a very real place, where we live in homes, enjoy life and have wonderful jobs to do. We shall be spiritual
in nature, without bodies of flesh and blood. There will be no males or females, because we shall be like the angels (Psalm 104:4, Hebrews 1:7, 2:16).
Heaven will be a place of immense beauty, joy and perfection. It shall be filled with laughter, joy and peace. It is the dwelling
place of God Himself. Jesus said, “You shall laugh,” when He spoke of heaven (Luke 6:21). Heaven is the essence of joy.
Life on earth is merely a shadowy copy of what real life shall be (1 Corinthians 13:12, Hebrews 9:24). In the light of heaven, it is life on earth which shall
seem very boring. We were designed for life in heaven – it is our real home. As the Bible states: ‘For our citizenship is in heaven’ (Philippians 3:20).
“If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world’ – C.S. Lewis.
