As Christians we can view the states in the world as operating within the orbit of Christ’s sovereign control. Even a bad
government is more preferable to social anarchy.
‘But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, which God has hidden, predetermining it before the world for our glory; which none of the rulers of this world knew (for if they had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory). 1 Corinthians 2:7-8.
The Bible teaches the validity of the state in God's economy, but it does not say it is beyond criticism. As Christians we are to submit to the government, but we must evaluate all of its demands in the light of the gospel.
‘Put them in mind to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do every good work’, Titus 3:1.
